this is a clean and completely working boombox from the great 80s. nice retro radio, I personally tested the cd and tape player. both function properly. sounds is surprisingly great as old as it is, no pops or cracks at high volume. now for the battery mod as mentioned in title. the previous owner has fashioned what appears to be a 12v style plug in the could be used for a battery pack of some sort. this is just a likely guess... I have not tried anything with it as I didn't want to harm anything or dissemble it find out exactly. definitely a 90s RadioShack type of addition. see pics and feel free to ask questions

This does work with multiple issues. The speakers are a little staticy and don’t get as loud as they should all the time. Speakers seem to be better after some use. The antenna is broken off. The radio does work. The cassette player works and it does register CDs but I did not get any sound when I played the CD. I did not try it on batteries, but the compartment is very clean. I did not clean anything else on it and there are a few spots that could use detailed. Overall, it is definitely a project and not a unit that is 100% ready to go.
